So here is my best of 2014…but first I have to start by saying, THANK YOU. 2014 was absolutely amazing. Just like this couple and all those whose weddings I photographed.
I have had so much support from my wedding industry friends (you know who you are) and from my family (especially Tom my husband) who have been the pillars of strength in helping me build a photography business, that is really a dream job. I often have to pinch myself to remind me how fortunate I am to be doing something I love for work, but to be honest, for me, the couples become an extension of my large gujju garba dancing family, who happen to be getting married and in the process, drinking lots of tea (and booze), partying hard and getting a bit emotional.
I’ve had haldi on my face and my cameras, I’ve swam in the Indian Ocean to get some lush photos , I have eaten way toooooo many gulab jamuns and danced to some classic hip-hop mixed with bolly-bhangra. I have cried at being mentioned in the speeches, I’ve climbed trees and laughed at making up ridiculous hashtags whilst driving with couples to an e-shoots. I’ve applied mascara and nail varnish for brides and draped a saree or two, I have watched match of the day and Formula 1 racing with grooms, I’ve been to the beach plenty of times and had sand between my toes, I’ve been to a wedding festival and enjoyed the sack races, the live bands and the ice-cream and been on bouncy castles. I’ve had a pot of masala chai with the mother of the bride and I have drunk mango vodka shots with the bridal party. Yes, this is all part of my job.
I shot, 20 pre-wed shoots, 22 (3 day) weddings, a destination wedding in Zanzibar and attended numerous workshops ( including two with my favourites, Fer Juaristi and Nordica), along the way, I have met some very talented photographers who have become good friends and I look forward to new adventures with them this year.
I have photographed Indian weddings in London, Cardiff, Manchester, Leicester, Coventry, Leamington Spa, Milton Keynes, Huddersfield, Leeds, Bradford, Cheshire, Birmingham, Hampshire, Swansea, Harrogate, Yorkshire Dales, York and Zanzibar.
Special thank you to Soniya, Aisha, Nishit, Jay, Jaye and to Manny from NAWS and the team at BvG.
2014 also saw me being nominated for The wedding Industry Award for best photographer and although I didn’t win, I made it to the regional finals, woohooo. Thank you to all the couples who voted for me and for your kind words. Some of those testimonials were really emotional. I’m so glad I can be more than just an Asian wedding photographer for you, and grateful for your friendship. Read more about TWIA and what the couples had to say here.
Hello 2015…
The year starts with a wedding fair in Birmingham in January at the Motorcycle Museum, followed by a wedding at the Serena Hotel in Mombasa, Kenya and then I am all across the UK photographing Indian weddings in Birmingham, Leicester, Manchester, Procida(Italy), London, Kent and Surrey. I cannot wait to document all the beautiful Indian weddings lined up this year.
This year I will also be expanding the team and two lovely photographers will be joining me from the end of January. Watch this space.
If you like what you see and would like to book your wedding photography, please contact me for more information. I’d love to hear from you.
PS: hope you have a cuppa chaa in hand.
